Worlds Collide

There comes a point
when control,
            best practices,
                        solid plans,
            firm footholds
are not enough.

The wheels will find black ice;
spinout is inevitable, unavoidable.

Even the seeming slow motion of it all
can’t save you;
that only assures your place
among the wreckage,
locked, as it were,
in the fluid dynamics
of destruction.

All meetings are head on
in this meeting of realities,
and as you hit the wall,
you realize there is more to it:
wall into wall,
wall upon wall,
wave on wave of walls.

Only then do you realize
what delusion is,
and how you have lived it.
